The Missing Tegna Anchor

Tegna’s WGRZ (Buffalo) has gone silent over the fact that one of the station’s Anchor’s has gone missing.

WGRZ morning Meteorologist Patrick Hammer has been off the morning show for so long that many viewers are asking questions about his whereabouts?

WGRZ General Manager Mark Manders and News Director Jeremy Settle have not said anything to the staff and have not responded to emails.

The Buffalo News reports that Hammer has put a message on his cell phone that says he won’t be able to receive any voicemails or return any phone calls until March 31. He gave his wife’s phone number in case there were any time sensitive issues that need to be addressed.

His wife did text the Buffalo News, saying “Patrick is taking time off and will return to work at the end of the month,” she wrote. “Please respect our family’s privacy.”

The station has said nothing.

Hammer has been arrested at least twice for DWI, including a felony DUI back in late 2015.

We don’t discuss personnel or personal situations,” WGRZ’s GM said at the time, “He’s on personal leave.”

This time, the station is saying nothing at all.

So much for the communications business.
