Connie Chung Attacks CBS's Greedy Owners

A blast from the past has surfaced to give their take on the mess that is CBS.

Connie Chung, the former anchor of the CBS Evening News and only the second woman ever to anchor a major U.S. nightly news program, has openly condemned her old network, accusing its leadership of prioritizing profit over journalistic integrity following a recent shift toward the right.

Speaking on Thursday’s episode of “Pablo Torre Finds Out,” Chung described her former employer as a “whole different organization.” She specifically targeted Shari Redstone, who sold her majority stake in parent company Paramount Global to David Ellison’s Skydance Media in a substantial $8.4 billion deal over the summer.

Chung's criticism centered on the financial maneuvers at the top, stating, “Their greed has caused the venerable CBS to actually disassemble, to crash into crumbles.” She then chuckled before name-dropping Bari Weiss, the conservative journalist who recently stepped in as CBS News’ new editor-in-chief, adding, “I don’t know what to call Bari Weiss, I just don’t know.”

Chung’s distress is tied to her inability to watch CBS now, noting that the “paradigm has completely changed in news.”She lamented that people “can’t find good old-fashioned facts” anymore.

Her comments join a growing chorus of critics dismayed by CBS's leadership in the wake of Paramount's decision to pay President Donald Trump $16 million to settle his lawsuit against 60 Minutes. This settlement, widely viewed as frivolous, was likened by critics to the company "kissing Trump’s ring," and it notably occurred just before Paramount's merger with Skydance, a deal that required administration approval.
