Longtime Reporter Departs Philadelphia’s Market Leader

A significant personnel change is underway at WPVI, the ABC-owned-and-operated station that consistently dominates the Philadelphia DMA ratings. After 13 years, veteran General Assignment Reporter Annie McCormick has officially departed the powerhouse station.

McCormick announced the move via social media on Monday, confirming that her final day on air at WPVI was December 1. Her exit marks a notable shift in the talent lineup at the most-watched local news operation in the market.

“I’m grateful for my time at 6abc [WPVI] and looking forward to my next chapter in journalism. For our viewers, I just wanted to do the job the constitution gave us the right to do in the most fair and respectful way,” McCormick wrote, signaling an intention to remain within the field.

McCormick initially joined the station in 2013 as a General Assignment Reporter. During her tenure, she became a familiar face across all dayparts, covering major regional stories throughout the Greater Philadelphia area.

A native of South Jersey, McCormick's career path prior to WPVI included stops in Texas, New Mexico, and Harrisburg, demonstrating a strong track record of experience before returning to the region.

While McCormick has not yet publicly disclosed her next career move, her social media statement hinted at a continuation in a storytelling or journalistic capacity. This departure comes as the competitive Philadelphia market (DMA #4) continues to navigate changing viewership habits and the necessity of retaining key veteran talent. Industry analysts will be watching closely to see what role McCormick takes next and how WPVI plans to fill the prominent on-air position she leaves behind.
