The Tegna Christmas Bonus (Ha)

A Tegna employee passed along their take on getting a holiday bonus this year from Tegna.

The Tegna staffer writes:

“I was wondering if you are covering anything about holiday bonuses this year? I would be curious to know what other companies are doing.

No surprise here Tegna is the lowest of low. Despite laying off half our staff at our own station, not only did we get no Christmas bonus this year through the company.. our station (WTSP) had a holiday party with Cracker Barrel and no gift unless you showed up to the party.

So, reporters that were out in the field or if you happened to be off you received nothing (last year we were all given gift cards to Publix) if you did make it to the holiday party, you could enter a raffle for a TV, sound bar or air tag but not everyone won.

It’s really a slap in the face that we are expected to do more and more with new streaming shows added constantly (we are now adding two more this week) to the point where we are almost 24 hour news.

I don’t mind doing extra work but after seeing half of our staff fired (including the entire marketing department) only to receive NOTHING for the holidays is extremely discouraging. 

At least with the Publix gift card last year we could afford some groceries.”
