Signing Off in Bean Town

A longtime fixture on Boston's airwaves, veteran news anchor Kim Khazei is set to sign off this December, ending a distinguished 25-year career at WHDH-TV and WLVI-TV, the station announced on November 4th.

Khazei's retirement marks the departure of one of the original and most recognizable faces of the WHDH news team, which she joined in 1994. The announcement was made in a company statement by WHDH-TV/WLVI-TV Vice President & General Manager, Jimmy Rogers.

“We are grateful for Kim’s dedication, and unwavering commitment. Her presence on the anchor desk, as a trusted, reliable voice in Boston, for more than two decades, leaves an impact beyond her departure,” Rogers said.

During her extensive tenure, Khazei has been a commanding presence on the anchor desk, covering pivotal stories that resonated both locally and across the nation and world.

Khazei helped successfully launch the station’s 10 PM newscast on WLVI after Sunbeam Television Corporation acquired the station in 2006. She currently co-anchors the 5, 6, 10, and 11 PM newscasts on WHDH, and the 10 PM news on WLVI (CW), alongside longtime co-anchor Adam Williams. Khazei is leaving a significant legacy at WHDH, which has remained a ratings leader since it became an independent station in 2017. Her final broadcast will be in December.
