Just Wow!

Some of the best advice I ever got when I first got into TV news was, “Act as if you have been there before.”

I have talked to many others in the business that have said they got the same sort of advice and followed it to the letter.

In other words, no matter what your assignment, even if it is nothing you have never done, act as if you have.

If you act like a fanboy/fangirl you tip your hand to those you are covering.

Let’s give a prime example of what not to do.

Nexstar News Nation White House corespondent Kellie Meyer got the assignment to ride aboard AirForce One and she acted like a middle school girl meeting Taylor Swift.

First, she posts this in which she thanks the Trump Administration for the plane ride and just how excited she was.

Act as if….

She also posted pictures fingerling all over her little plane ride.

Of course, she also had to add the obligatory food picture.

Now, do you think she was going to ask the hard questions about the government shutdown, the Epstein files, the questionable pardons. the price of groceries, or the destruction of the White House?

I highly doubt it, as she was thanking the White House on taking her on a plane ride, in which the rest of us paid for.

Act as if….
