OAN Axes Asshole (Sorry, it's just one)
/One America News (OAN) announced the firing of Vish Burra, the producer of "The Matt Gaetz Show," on Monday following a week of escalating controversy over an antisemitic cartoon he posted to social media.
The original post, which was quickly deleted but widely captured, depicted Jewish people as "scheming cockroaches" that Burra later reportedly labeled as "vermin." The cartoon sparked immediate backlash and condemnation across media and political circles.
Initially, Representative Matt Gaetz, the host of the show Burra produced, offered a defense of his employee. Last week, Gaetz dismissed the incident, stating that Burra had simply "posted something dumb" and "quickly deleted it."
However, the internal scrutiny mounted as an OAN colleague, reporter Stella Escobedo, took to social media herself to point out that the offensive cartoon was not an isolated incident. Escobedo highlighted that Burra had posted many other "ugly messages," suggesting a pattern of problematic content that extended beyond a single mistake.
The pressure ultimately led OAN to terminate Burra’s employment.
Silly me, I thought hate and bigotry was something OAN looked for in an employee.
