Leaving the Business

WOAI (San Antonio) Anchor/Reporter Matt Roy announced that he is leaving the Sinclair station and TV news altogether.

His wife, WOAI Reporter Jordan Elder is staying with the station.

This is what Roy posted to social media about his exit.

"After nearly four years at KABB/WOAI and six years with Sinclair, I am leaving the news business, with my last day on air being Oct. 17

It was a tough decision, but my wife and I know it's best for us and our future family.

I'll have more on what I will be doing next very soon, but for now I just want to thank everyone in San Antonio and the Springfield, IL communities for embracing Jordan and me. We have truly felt the love every second and could not imagine working and living anywhere else.

To journalism, I love you and I always will. Ever since I was a kid, this is what I've wanted to do. Tell stories, talk sports, be a voice for people who don't have one, and inform the public about what's happening in their communities."
