Frustration at Gray
/FTVLive received a couple of emails from Gray employees who feel like the management team training them, doesn’t quite understand the reality at the stations.
Here is one email, from a Gray employee, who shares their frustration.
So Gray’s upper management today held a meeting talking about Streaming best practices, something the tech team here at Gray did a couple weeks ago. As an employee in a small market, the meeting opened up my eyes as to how disconnected they are with all their stations. Sure, they have big markets that make lots of money, well more than we make, but it’s sad that their strategy team comes on and tells everyone they should rely on their breaking news EP or a streaming EP or even a streaming staff. I get that streaming is the way to go and the reason I’m still with Gray is because they have been one of the first stations groups to embrace it.
But what also gets me os the strategy team came on and was giving conflicting information to what we’ve been trained with over the past five years by three people who’ve been in the same position for those five years.
To be honest, I trust the people who’ve been doing this, and not the people who are being pushed by the gray upper management because they haven’t had to do what we do. It’s like gray executives are talking out both sides of their mouth and it’s very frustrating.
