The CBS Evening News with Who?!

New CBS News editor-in-chief Bari Weiss is actively searching for a new face to anchor CBS Evening News, according to recent reports.

Among the names being floated are Fox News anchor and Donald Trump golfing partner Bret Baier and CBS Mornings co-host Tony Dokoupil.

It’s hard to see Baier going to CBS, which has been in the ratings basement for decades. Also, his contract with Fox News through 2028, making his immediate availability doubtful.

Weiss's search comes as the show's ratings have declined under its current hosts, John Dickerson and Maurice DuBois. They took over earlier this year, shifting the broadcast to a longer-segment, 60 Minutes-style format. This format change has seen the program average 4.1 million viewers, down from the 4.8 million average achieved by former anchor Norah O'Donnell.
