Another Longtime Anchor to Step Down

After a nearly 30-year career in journalism, including more than 20 years at WHO 13 in Central Iowa, Erin Kiernanhas announced her decision to transition out of her role as the station's main anchor.

Kiernan has been considering this move since early 2025 and is stepping away from her daily duties to pursue a new chapter focused on family time and other personal and professional opportunities.

WHO 13 management was informed of her intentions this past spring and has supported her decision. Her final broadcast as main anchor is scheduled for Monday, November 24.

While leaving the anchor desk, Kiernan will maintain a limited affiliation with WHO 13. She is expected to continue contributing to the station, focusing on storytelling and community connections within the Central Iowa market.

WHO 13 management issued a statement recognizing her career, noting, "Erin is an exceptional journalist and storyteller. Her integrity, empathy, and grace have defined her career and made a lasting impact."
