FTVLive told you that this day was coming...

We hate to say we told you, but….

Britain's Channel 4 delivered a stunning twist at the end of its news special, “Will AI Take My Job?” The hour-long Dispatches documentary, which aired Monday at 8 p.m., investigated the reality of automation in the workplace. The shocker? The anchor who hosted the show, narrated the segments, and appeared throughout the telecast reporting from various locations, was entirely AI-generated.

In a first for British television, the final moments of the broadcast revealed the truth: the presenter was not real. The AI host explained the situation to the viewers: “AI is going to touch everybody’s lives in the next few years. And for some, it will take their jobs. Call center workers? Customer service agents? Maybe even TV presenters like me. Because I’m not real. In a British TV first, I’m an AI presenter. Some of you might have guessed: I don’t exist, I wasn’t on location reporting this story. My image and voice were generated using AI.”

The "anchor" was created using sophisticated prompts to generate a realistic on-camera performance. This move by Channel 4 marks a significant milestone as the first British television show to feature a wholly artificial presenter.
