So Much for Freedom of the Press

Former Fox News/CBS News Investigative Reporter Catherine Herridge has been held in contempt of court for refusing to reveal the unnamed sources in a series of articles on a Chinese American scientist probed by the FBI.

A US District Judge imposed a fine of $800 for each day that Herridge withholds the names of her source or sources for the Fox News articles she wrote seven years ago.

Herridge was one of many who was recently let go from CBS News in a large cost-cutting move.

She has correctly invoked her First Amendment rights not to give up her sources.

Herridge has time to file an appeal before the fine goes into effect.

Herridge’s personal files along with her work laptop were confiscated by CBS News and locked away in the station’s Washington, DC, newsroom immediately after she was laid off.

The network returned the files on Monday after mounting pressure from the journalist’s union as well as the House Judiciary Committee.

And, because they looked like complete fucking idiots.
