Viewers Can Opt Out on Local Stations

While local media companies continue to fleece viewers by demanding that cable and satellite companies continue to pay them more money, one company is giving viewers a choice.

DirecTV is now letting customers opt out of getting the local stations, and it will save the customer money.

If a DirecTV customer says no to getting the local stations, they will receive discounts of $12 a month. That alone will save viewers $144 bucks a year.

“Our new ‘No Locals’ package enables customers to take an important step forward in culling out certain types of content they may no longer care to watch and better balance the price they are willing to pay,” a DirecTV rep said.

While local stations should be looking at each and every way to get their channel before the eyes of viewers, my guess is many viewers will opt out on watching local TV.

Again, it will be another example of how the greed of media companies will spell their demise.
