Signed Off in San Antonio

KENS (San Antonio) Anchor/Reporter Marvin Hurst left the Tegna station on the last day of 2023.

He told viewers in a very looooong Facebook post that he is headed to Dallas to be with his wife.

Here is a portion on that post:

The Holy Bible tells us that there is a season for everything. I can't count how many I've encountered at KENS-TV; my good days outnumbered the bad ones. Even the bad ones became learning experiences. It's my season to "Arrive!" I have a lot to say; bear with me.

I am going into my 19th year at KENS 5. It will be my shortest. My anniversary date is December 27th. Contractually, I will come to the end of the road on December 31st.

I told my bosses I would exit about seven or eight months ago. They have been more than gracious in my departure. That's appreciated because this is an emotionally challenging separation for me. I love San Antonio! And I will confess my 19-year love affair with her and the people who live here forever.

My wife and I have awaited the Lord's promised process for nearly a year in different cities. Yes, we saw each other and spent time together. Now, it's time for one roof, and we can finally stop answering all those questions about "Is she here? Is he here? How does that work? Blah.Blah. Blah." We aren't prying; sometimes, the depth of the "social" inquisitions puzzled us. We ARE value detectives---sniffing out intention all the time. The Hursts are joyfully together by God's amazing hand. That's how it works. Trusting and understanding the process and purpose--knowing the essential cause is more significant than space, time, or relationship status on social media.

I am moving to Dallas to be with her. Before you ask, my WORK is to continue my journey as a Christian husband and become the Marvin God sees. For me, that's truly exciting.

My JOB, which will always get a primary treatment, is next in line. To quote the late Myles Monroe, "Your job is what they train you to do. Your work is what you were born to do. Your job is your skill. Your work is your gift." It's time to do the work!
