Reporter Job for Less Than Minimum Wage

In the state of Washington, the minimum wage is $16.28 an hour.

Yet, if you look at this Bilingual Reporter/MMJ job opening posted by KNDU in the Tri-cities of Washington, you’ll see that the salary range starts at $16 an hour, less than the minimum wage.

First off, I think that if you can speak two languages that are prevalent in the market, you should instantly be paid an extra $5 an hour or more. Being able to speak two languages is a skill that few people have. You should be compensated for that.

Second, any TV station should be embarrassed when it offers a job in Journalism that pays less than Taco Bell.

The fact that you are posting a job that doesn’t even meet minimum wage is beyond embarrassing.
