ToldJa! Layoffs Coming to Scripps

Back in May, we told you that it looked as if Scripps would be implementing some layoffs.

An internal email has gone out to the staff from CEO Adam Symson confirming just that.

FTVLive obtained a copy of the email:

Colleagues:

 At the all-employee town hall on May 5, we shared that several work areas would announce their new organizational structures in early June. Those announcements will be made this week and include groups reporting into Digital and Streaming Platforms; Network Operations/Engineering; Data, Research and Insights; Content and Programming; Local News; IT; and Finance.

Also this week, we launch the news initiative, which I discussed in my May 25 On My Mind email, with our station in Tallahassee.

 Since we announced our intent to reorganize the company, the foundation of our efforts has been a sincere commitment to our mission. Our senior leaders have analyzed how to best evolve our company to meet the changing needs of media consumers so we can prosper and perpetuate as Scripps has done for the past 145 years.

As a reminder, our three objectives for this reorganization are to:

1. Improve company operating performance by forming an agile, responsive organizational structure;

2. Realize synergies between our existing businesses; and

3. Create an organizational structure where employees can move seamlessly throughout the company.

To achieve these objectives, we not only need to rethink how our products become something consumers love, but we also need to assess our processes for becoming more efficient, and that means we are evaluating roles. This evaluation includes determining the positions we need to be successful in serving our audiences, advertisers and delivering on our mission. Ultimately, this will mean role eliminations and changes for some.

 I know this type of change brings much uncertainty. We remain committed to sharing information with you as soon as we can and answering your questions. This is one of the reasons for my email. We want you to be able to stay updated as communications are shared. To keep up with our organizational changes, you can visit the Reorganization WorkLife site.

 If you have questions about the reorganization and can’t find the answer on WorkLife, please email scripps.information@scripps.com.
