The AI Impact

A study shows that up to 80% of workers can see their job impacted by AI in the near future.

Researchers from OpenAI and the University of Pennsylvania argued in a new research paper that 80 percent of the US workforce could have at least 10 percent of their work tasks affected by the introduction of ChatGPT.

They also found that about 19 percent of workers may find at least 50 percent of their duties impacted by GPT, or General-purpose technologies.

The study found that mathematicians, interpreters, accountants, legal secretaries, writers and authors are some of the jobs with the highest exposure levels.

Journalism is also high on the list.

Companies like Nexstar are forbidding employees to use ChatGPT and other AI platforms.

This is not a wise move, but it should not come as a surprise. According to a longtime Nexstar employee, when the internet first came out, Nexstar would not allow many employees in the newsroom to access it.

AI can significantly help your productivity and streamline much of your work. I urge every Journalist to take the time to explore AI and learn how to prompt the program to make it work even better.

If you work at a Nexstar station, do this on your own time. Learn it because in the future, it Is more than likely that using and understanding AI will be a big part of your job.

By the way, the last I looked, everyone at Nexstar now uses the internet.
