Station-Branded Account Bitching

Of course you all know that TV news people like to bitch.

But, when you use your station-branded social media to bitch about companies, it’s not the best idea.

WTAE (Pittsburgh) Sports Anchor Emily Giangreco felt the need to go on her station-branded Twitter to bitch about Rite Aid and Quest Diagnostics because her appointment time was scheduled before the store opened.

Oh! And she almost got hit by lightning, you know because Rite Aid controls the weather as well.

KABB (San Antonio) Reporter Yami Virgin decided to use her station-branded account to bitch about the ground crew at Jet Blue Airlines.

She did not get into specifics about what the ground crew did, but she felt she didn’t deserve it.

If you want to bitch about service, you should not do that on a station branded account. The companies could be advertisers within your company, and you could end up costing your station, or company money.

But, it also makes you often look entitled and the fact that you are whining on station-branded social media, does not reflect well on your station.

Think before you post.
