Time to Open Up the Wallet

This is the time of year when stations start putting in their entries into the regional Emmys.

It is not uncommon for stations to put in 20 or more entries in hopes of winning.

Most entries cost $300 or more dollars, and if you enter 20 or 30 times, you can see it really adds up.

What if stations didn’t enter anything into the Emmys, but instead, each week, they gave a different newsroom employee a crisp new $100 bill?

I’m just throwing that idea out there. The money is in the budget, why not give it to the staff. There are so many Emmys handed out now that it has almost become a participation trophy.

And, believe me, the viewers don’t give a shit.
