Allen Media Looking to Buy Scripps

Some have wondered if all the Scripps cuts were an effort to streamline the company or make it more attractive for a sale?

Allen Media owner Byron Allen shows interest in any media company that is exploring a sale. He tried to buy Tegna but got shut out.

Allen has expressed interest in the Disney O&O’s and other Disney properties, but many wonder if he could raise enough cash to make that buy.

Now, Allen is expressing interest in the Scripps stations.

Reports say that Allen is seeking funding from the private debt market to pay for the potential deal, according to people with knowledge of the matter.

Allen has said that he wants to expand his station portfolio, and the Scripps stations might fit that bill.

Right now, this story is in the very early stages, and I would not be surprised if Allen showed Interest in the Sinclair stations as well.

Sinclair CEO Chris Ripley has basically said that the broadcasting model is dead. It would not surprise me if Sinclair doesn’t also explore selling their stations.

Byron Allen says he wants to grow, and he might have several options.
