I didn’t cover this last week, and a number of you kept sending me the story.

Last week, CBS News announced that they were launching a new unit to examine misinformation and so-called “deepfakes,” or false videos that can often be generated via artificial intelligence.

The new unit, called “CBS News Confirmed.”

So, why didn’t FTVLive cover this story?

Well, as someone who worked in journalism for decades, I thought that it was everyone’s job in journalism to confirm a story and examine misinformation.

Why does CBS need a unit to do the job that every Journalist should do?
