Buying The ABC O&O's

We haven’t heard much news lately about the sale of the ABC O&O’s, but looking at Disney CEO Bob Iger’s plans for the future, it seems as if the sale is likely to happen.

So far, two media companies have expressed interest in buying the ABC stations.

Nexstar, headed by CEO Perry Sook, and Allen Media, headed by Byron Allen.

Let’s unpack this just a bit more.

Most of the ABC O&O’s are the no. 1 station in their respective markets. In the big markets, New York, Chicago, Philly, and LA, the ABC stations are blowtorches.

Now ask yourself this, how many markets does Nexstar have the no. 1 rated station for news? How many of the Allen Media stations are no. 1 in their market for news.

Exactly.

So, do you think the ABC owned stations have a bright future if they are bought by either Allen or Nexstar?

Hopefully, in ABC sells, someone with a better track record will step up.

Just saying…

Hello, World!
