It has been announced that Candace Burns, an anchor for WTVR in Richmond, will be leaving the station after eight years. Burns joined the team in 2014 as an anchor for the 6 p.m. and 11 p.m. news broadcasts with Bill Fitzgerald. In 2015, she helped to launch the WTVR Problem Solvers, a segment aimed at assisting viewers in obtaining answers from authorities.

Her weekly Our RVA stories frequently featured members of the community who may have otherwise gone unreported by local news outlets. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Burns assisted in the creation of The Rebound Richmond, a segment focusing on how the community was coping with the crisis.

Burns will be leaving Virginia to start a new chapter in her life as a newlywed in Texas.

While her departure is bittersweet, WTVR says that they wish her the best in her future endeavors.
