Not Going to Debate Conspiracy Theorist

More often than not, I am in the camp that we should see most political opponents debate each other as many times as they can before an election.

But, every now and then, there is an exception.

Herschel Walker refuses to debate his opponent, Sen. Raphael Warnock.

I think it is a smart move by Walker because he would get creamed in a debate and this is a close race. If he did debate, he will likely lose.

Out in Arizona, it is the Democrat that does not want to debate the Republican.

Governor candidate Katie Hobbs announced that she will not debate her GOP opponent, former KSAZ Anchor Kari Lake.

“Unfortunately, debating a conspiracy theorist like Kari Lake – whose entire campaign platform is to cause enormous chaos and make Arizona the subject of national ridicule – would only lead to constant interruptions, pointless distractions, and childish name-calling,” Nicole DeMont, the campaign manager for Hobbs, said in a statement.

I can’t disagree with that statement. Lake has spread lies and she would continue to do so in a debate. She is the only person, other than Donald Trump that thinks the 2020 election was stolen.

Lake is a former Anchor and she certainly knows how to speak in public. She is very good at telling lies and getting some people to believe them.

At one point, Lake had a large lead in the polls, but it has now dropped down to a dead heat. Lake very well might still win, but I think Hobbs is making the right call not to engage in a debate with the unhinged Lake.

Most of the time, I think debates are needed and a good thing for the voters. In the case of Republican Walker and Democrat Hobbs, I think it is in their best interest to not do so.
