A Trial Run?

You may remember, or may not that Elizabeth Vargas was an Anchor for ABC’s World News Tonight.

It didn’t last very long.

Vargas was teamed with Bob Woodruff as the co-hosts of WNT, replacing the late Peter Jennings.

It came to a quick halt when Woodruff was critically wounded by a roadside bomb in Iraq.

Vargas had problems with alcohol and it wasn’t long before the co-anchor experiment was over at ABC News, almost as quickly as it started.

Vargas left ABC back in 2018.

But, it appears that she is making a comeback with Nexstar’s News Nation. Nexstar announced that the 60-year-old will guest anchor “NewsNation Prime” during the week of September 19. Vargas will be stepping in for NewsNation anchor Marni Hughes, whose new daytime show “NewsNation Live with Marni Hughes, debuts next week.

“Elizabeth Vargas is a tremendous journalist who brings a wealth of knowledge and insight to every role she undertakes,” commented Michael Corn, President of News at NewsNation. “Having worked with her for nearly two decades, I’m really looking forward to collaborating again. I am confident we will be doing a lot more with Elizabeth at NewsNation as we continue to expand our stellar talent roster.”

It appears that this is a trail run and we could see Vargas more often on the little-watched cable news channel.
