Questions Raised Up Graham Station's Story (Update)

WJXT (Jacksonville) Reporter Erik Avanier did a story about two Gainesville police officers that were sent to the hospital after they believe that they were exposed to fentanyl.

The WJXT story says that both officers were administered Narcan before both officers were rushed to a hospital.

“I could not imagine if we did not have the Narcan, if we did not have the help if we did not have the officers that were able to articulate that something felt different,” said Lt. Lonnie Scott Jr. told the station.“I don’t even want to think about that.”

But, studies have shown that it is nearly impossible for an overdose to be caused by brief contact with the drug.

After the station posted the story, a number of people pointed that fact out.

Former Daily Beast writer Timothy Burke called Avanier out and then it got weird.

Why would a Reporter in Jacksonville insist he go on CNN, WJXT is owned by Graham Media and has no ownership or control over CNN.

Update: Avanier refutes how that conversation with Burke went. The Reporter claims that he offered Burke an on-camera interview he declined.

WJXT isn’t the only station to cover these “fentanyl exposures” involving police, but it does seem a bit confusing since science does not seem to agree with this being possible.

It could be psychological and if so, that might make an interesting story in itself.

But, it appears that WJXT could have asked a few more questions on this story.

Just saying…
