Journalists Want a Better World, for Themselves

It seems there are a number of Journalists that have left the business to make a run at politics.

Kari Lake is one example, but I know of at least 4 other former Journalists that are now running for office.

While this seems like a trend, it has actually been happening for quite some time.

Jack Shafer wrote a piece for Slate back in 2010 and I think he really hit the nail on the head when he said this about Journos running for office:

“Mostly, journalists want to make a better world—but for themselves. They want recognition for their work, they want prizes, they want a raise, they want to appear in a better venue, they want higher status.”

It’s all about feeding that giant ego.
