It Appears that Someone has had a Change of Heart

Eight years ago, FTVLive told you that WTEV (now WJAX) Weather Anchor Julie Watkins was leaving the Jacksonville, Florida station and she appeared to be burned out doing the daily weather reports.

At the time, Watkins posted on her blog: “I won't miss the local news environment. It's pretty intense. I don't want to be intense about weather anymore. At least not all the time. During life threatening situations, yes, but not every time there is a thunderstorm. I'm not saying it's a bad environment, it's just not for me. I no longer thrive in how news' markets function. I'm at odds with it, but I guess people are responding to its current formula because it appears to drive ratings which drives content and the cycle goes on.”

Well, that was 2014.

Fast forward to 2022 and Watkins has been seen doing the weather on Scripps' WTVR/Richmond. She appears to be working the morning and noon show right now.

No word if she is temporary or permanent, but she's clearly taking the slots formerly filled by Frances Peyton, who moved down I-64 to WVEC/Hampton-Norfolk earlier this spring.

Oh! And that blog of hers has been deleted.
