We Warned You....

For years, FTVLive has encouraged stations to stop putting so much weight on social media.

Some stations have gone so far as to give away cash or a prize to get people to follow the station on social media.

As we have said several times, why not put that money and effort in getting people to come to YOUR website and not your social media.

Stations own and control the station’s website. They can charge for ads and have total control as to what is posted on the site.

Stations do not own Facebook or Twitter or any other social media platform.

Now, Elon Musk, who is in the process of buying Twitter says he is thinking about charging some Twitter users to post on the platform.

Musk has said that he is thinking about charging commercial/government users to post on Twitter.

You can bet if this makes Twitter money, it won’t be long before Facebook, Instagram and other social media platforms pick on this and follow Musk’s lead.

While charging to post, might get rid of stupid posts like this:

Stations will then have to decide if it is worth spending money to make a post.

Maybe now is a good time that Tv stations step away from social media and put more effort into their own website.

Which, believe me, in most cases, need a lot of work.

Just saying…
