Headed Up The 5

Former KNBC News boss Todd Mokhtari is headed back to the LA station, but this time it is for the corner office.

Mokhtari served as the VP pf News for KNBC before leaving to become the GM of KNSD in San Diego.

Now, he is returning to KNBC as the GM, overseeing the O&O, along with KVEA, the Telemundo station in LA.

“Todd is an exceptional General Manager for our San Diego NBC & Telemundo stations,” said NBC O&O head Valari Staab.”He understands both the English and Spanish language television markets and has long been one of our most innovative managers. Todd is from LA and once led our KNBC newsroom. He understands the power of bringing KVEA and KNBC together to serve the entire Los Angeles area with its large Latino population and ever increasing diversity, in a way no other television operation can.”

Mokhtari replaces two people.

He takes over KNBC from Steve Carlston and KVEA from Celia Chavez.

He started as an intern at KCRA in Sacramento and worked his way up to Producer before moving on.
