Don't Let the Facts Get in the Way of a Good Story

Nexstar’s WETM (Elmira, NY) did a story about a local bar that was dumping their bottles of Russian vodka down the drain to protest the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The station showed video of the bar pouring Smirnoff and Stoli in the sink.

After some viewers contacted the station to set them straight, the Nexstar station posted another story to “fact check” their own story.

That’s right, the booze that the bar was dumping are not Russian vodkas. Smirnoff and Stoli are Russian-themed, but not made in Russia.

Maybe next time, a simple Google search would be a good idea before you go with the story.
