Uncle Perry's Kid Buys Million Dollar + Apartment in NYC

How would you like to land your first job in TV news in the No. 1 market?

How would you like to have a $1.5 million dollar budget to buy an apartment in New York City?

That is the life of Perry Sook Jr., the son of Nexstar CEO Perry Sook.

FTVLive told you that Junior has landed a Sportscasting job with no TV experience at Nexstar’s WPIX in NYC.

The NY Times feature Perry Jr. in a segment they call “The Hunt” in which they follow people as their purchase property in NYC.

The Times writes about Perry Jr. and his wife, “The couple met through a singing program in Italy, nearly four years ago. Ms. Ulakhovich, 29, is an opera singer from St. Petersburg, Russia. Mr. Sook, 30, who is from Texas, was then a Broadway performer and is now a sportscaster. He was living in an Upper West Side three-bedroom condominium that his family owned.”

The couple’s budget?

$1.5 million bucks.

They put an offer in on a highrise on Lincoln Square, but they thought the co-op board was a bit too nosey.

“They were asking for information about me and my family and my finances that no one but the I.R.S. knows,” Mr. Sook said. “They wanted more proof of our marital status than immigration required. It was a level of scrutiny that was not comfortable. It was a very invasive process.”

Perry Jr. and his wife finally found a new build in South Harlem and plunked down $1.57 million and bought it.

It’s a story anyone just starting out in TV news can relate to….right?

I remember my first job in TV news, I was happy to have a place where the gunshots would usually stop before midnight and I could get some sleep.

Life in the lucky sperm club is a bit different.
