She's Gone in Cincy

Last week, FTVLive told you that Scripps-owned WCPO (Cincy) took longtime Anchor Julie O'Neil off the morning newscasts and then she was gone from the station.

At the time, the station played her leaving like this, “Julie O'Neill no longer is a member of our team. We made the decision to take her off the morning show as an anchor and spoke with her about a couple of different options moving forward," news director Barry Fulmer said in a personnel announcement to staffers.

Sources tell FTVLive that O’Neil was basically fired, but was given the chance to work as a Reporter for the last few months of her contract and then be let go. She decided to walk out early.

Now, here is where it gets a bit confusing.

Sources tell FTVLive that O’Neil was bounced over the fact that she mentioned that a co-worker had COVID. When the co-worker returned to the air, O’Neil said something about the co-worker is returning after having COVID.

Sources say that the co-worker went an complained to management, over the fact that O’Neil told viewers that they had COVID.

It was then, according to insiders that they took O’Neil off the morning show and informed her that he contract would not be renewed.

But, here’s the strange part. The co-worker that had COVID, she post on her social media that she had COVID. So, why was this person so bent over the fact that O’Neil made mention of it, when they had already put it out on their social media?

Seems bogus to us, but then again, this is the TV news business in a nutshell.

O’Neil has been at the station since 1995 and now says she plans on launching a speaking career, that will empower people to become bold and crash through their comfort zones.

Just don’t talk about anyone getting COVID.
