Tegna Station: Hurricane Ian is Headed Back to Florida

You might not believe this, but there was a time when almost all of the cut-ins were done live and not pre-recorded.

But, a live cut-in means you need people in the booth, on prompter, running cameras, audio, fonts, and anchoring the live hit.

Stations long figured out that it was much cheaper to record the cuti-ins and just roll the video when the spot hit.

But, here is the downside of that.

During the Clemson vS. NC State game on ABC on Saturday, Oct 1, Tegna’s First Coast News in Jacksonville, Florida, ran a taped forecast warning of the impending disaster from Hurricane Ian.

Of course, this was days after Ian had already wrecked Florida and was on his way north.

Apparently, this weather forecast was a recorded segment that was taped before Ian hit Florida.
