Blowing Up Local News Live at Gray

It appears that many of the media companies that own local TV stations think that the future is national news.

Scripps has their national news network, Nexstar has gone nation with their News Nation cable channel and Gray entered the game with a national newscast called Local News Live.

Gray’s streaming effort was based out of Omaha, where the company spent millions of dollars building a new set and streaming studio.

It was just about a month ago that Gray released this video about Local News Live.

Since that video was released, Gray named Lisa Allen the company’s new Vice President and General Manager of Washington Operations. Insiders tell FTVLive that Allen is also taking charge of Local News Live and that much of the operation will be moved from Omaha to DC.

Word is the set that was recently built in Omaha is going to be torn down. We hear that pink slips are flying and many that have not yet been pushed out and being nudged toward the door.

I’m not sure why Gray would try and base a national news operation in Omaha, but it appears that almost as quickly as they did, they are now moving it to DC.

Seems like a big waste of money before you barely got started.

Just saying…
