Perry Sook: No One Knows about News Nation

Back on July 20th, in a Patron Only story, FTVLive FIRST told you that News Directors at the local Nexstar stations have been sent a memo that is advising them that starting on July 26th, they will be asked to take time out of their local newscasts to promote and run a News Nation promo.

Now, Nexstar CEO Perry Sook confirms this is part of his plan to try and get viewers to tune in to News Nation.

Sook claims that 84% of the country has no earthly idea' what News Nation is?

So. Uncle Perry says he is planning on spending $10 million bucks to try and get people to watch the very low-rated cable news channel.

On the Nexstar earnings call, Sook said, “When we launched NewsNation, 10% of the country knew what NewsNation was,” Sook told analysts and investors. “We’re now up to 16%, but that means 84% of the country has no earthly idea. That’s job one.”

The CEO says he is committed to spending “double-digit millions” on advertising on other TV, digital and social media outlets.
