Sick Of It....

News 6 (Boise) Reporter Natasha Williams does not like the fact that viewers are “constantly” sending her messages commenting about her weight, hair, clothing choice, “or other parts of my appearance on air.”

While I 100 percent agree that it may be uncalled for and downright rude, Williams needs to understand that this is the job she chose.

When you put yourself in the public eye, you must know that the public is going to make comments about you and your appearance. That’s why when you walk by the checkout line at the grocery store, there are a number of celebrity gossip magazines starting you in the face.

Makes no difference if you’re Brad Pitt, Kim Kardashian, or an on-air Reporter in Boise, Americans feed off talking about how others look or act.

At any point of the day, I can open up the old FTVLive email and read messages from people that are praising and supporting the work I do and on the flip side there are those that want to try and tear you down ( BTW- Keep them coming baby, I feed off the negative engagement).

I’m not saying that viewers commenting on your looks or weight is cool, it’s clearly not. But, if you’re in the public eye and appearing on TV, it sort of comes with the territory, don’t you think?

The bottom line in all this.

If you’re happy with yourself and how you look, isn’t that all that really matters? The rest is just noise. I’m not sure that responding to the trolls is going to make it stop and might only encourage it more.

If it really is getting to you, you can take on a job behind the camera or in another field. I don’t think if you were a manager at a bank, anyone would comment on your appearance at all.

You kind of picked a job that will always have people critiquing you.

Just saying….
