Yesterday, FTVLive told you how ESPN is dealing with the fallout of a leaked phone call in which ESPN Reporter Rachel Nichols appeared to imply that ESPN Reporter Maria Taylor got her job because she was black.

Rachel Nichols is white.

Yesterday, Nichols took to the air, to try and put the toothpaste back in the tube.

Here’s the rub on all this…

Some say that Nichols is working at Disney’s ESPN because of her mother-in-law.

Nichols is married to Max Nichols, the son of legendary American film and theatre director Mike Nichols. Mike is married to Diane Sawyer.

Many believe that Sawyer, an ABC News star helped pave the way for Nichols to get hired in the Disney food chain.

Maybe Rachel Nichols shouldn’t be pointing fingers at who is hired and why she thinks that is?
