FTVLive was the FIRST to tell you that Tegna’s WUSA was pulling comic Reese Waters from the station’s morning newscast.

The comic as a News Anchor experiment failed and Tegna finally pulled the plug.

But, despite the fact that Watters was taken off the morning show 7 months ago, he remained employed at WUSA and is basically getting a paycheck to do nothing.

Back on January 18th, FTVLive told you that WUSA had plans to use Waters on their 7 PM newscast In which they claimed would be an “innovative show.”

“Show’ is the keyword, as in the fact that while it will be as a newscast, it will be a comic doing a show.

As we wrote 7 months ago, “on conference calls with the staff, management has continued to act as if hiring a comic was a stroke of genius and a wild success. The truth is, it hurt the station’s credibility, did not pop the ratings, and embarrassed an industry.”

Well, it appears that Tegna is finally about ready to launch their comic/anchor back on the DC viewers. WUSA Met Topper Shutt sent out this tweet:

Yep, after getting paid for 9 months to do nothing, Reese Waters will finally going back to work with a newscast called “Open Mic.”

Tegna continues to thumb its nose at Journalism in the process.
