A new study out from the Associated Press and the American Media Institute shows what many of us in the media already know.

People’s distrust in the media is growing.

While much of that growth can be pointed at cable news, the public really doesn’t see any difference in cable news over local news.

67% of those in the study think that providing the facts is the most important thing.

“I just want the facts about what happened so I can make up my own mind,” said Patrick Gideons, a 64-year-old former petroleum industry supervisor who lives south of Houston. He lacks faith in the news media because he believes it offers too much opinion.

The study shows that people want more “watchdogs” looking into the media.

All I can say, I’m doing all I can right now.
