For the second time in less than a month there is a change at the top of a network O&O group.

Earlier this month, CBS relieved O&O President Peter Dunn of his duties and this time it is ABC O&O boss.

Wendy McMahon who has headed up the ABC owned stations since 2017 is out, “effective immediately” according to an email sent to staffers.

No word on why she is gone, but for it happen “immediately” it most often means one of two things. Either there was an issue that forced ABC to left her go so quickly, or she is headed to a competing group.

As FTVLive told you, ABC recently poached Kim Godwin from CBS to oversee the network news division. Is CBS doing the same with McMahon?

Could McMahon take over the role that Peter Dunn served at CBS?

It would be a great move by CBS.

The ABC O&O’s are basically the top rated stations in their respective markets, while the CBS stations are often last. Bringing McMahon on board would be the perfect move by CBS.

Time will tell, but the fact that McMahon is out at ABC is a big deal.

Stay tuned…..
