Jason Kilar is the CEO of WarnerMedia, the parent company of CNN and was giving the keynote address at Morgan Stanley's Technology, Media and Telecom Conference.

It was there that he said that the COVID pandemic has been really good for CNN’s ratings.

“It turns out the pandemic is a pretty big part of the news cycle and that's not going away any time soon,” Kilar said adding,  “If you take a look at the ratings and the performance, it's going well. I think it's going well because A. the team at CNN is doing a fantastic job and B. it turns out the pandemic and the way that we can inform and help contextualize the business is really good for ratings.”

Then he bragged, “Anyone that is paying attention to the news business through linear television, CNN is killing it. They're the number one cable news network now and have been since the election.”

It is here that we should point out that MSNBC finished the month of February as the No. 1 rated cable news station.

Some wondered how Kilar after AT&T bought CNN could keep Jeff Zucker running the network.

After seeing him boast about how COVID has been great for ratings, I think we all know.

Kilar and Zucker deserve each other….
