Longtime Tulsa Anchor is Dead

Back when I started my first full-time job in TV news, I was at KTUL in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Across the street at KOTV, the newscasts were anchored by Clayton Vaughn.

Vaughn started his job at KOTV in 1964 and was with the station until 1999, but with two key stops in other locales: in the late 1960s at KABC in Los Angeles and in 1978 at a station in New Jersey.

He retired as KOTV’s Anchor in 1997 but stayed on as managing editor before retiring in 1999.

The station reports that Vaughn passed away yesterday at the age of 86.

Our man Chris Solan dug up an old promo of Vaughn from his heyday.
