How cool is this?

While Sinclair was driving the pink-slip express around to their stations whacking employees, many of those that were kicked to the curb worked in the stations’ sports departments.

At Sinclair’s WKRC (Cincinnati) the station was looking to layoff a Sports Reporter when something very unusual happened.

WKRC Sportscaster Jed DeMuesy volunteered to leave the station so his fellow co-worker could keep their job.

It’s not often that someone volunteers to be laid off, but that is just what DeMuesy did.

And then he downplayed the move to help save his friend’s job. "It's not this noble gesture," insisted DeMuesy, "This is a move with myself in mind first. I said, 'I'll go. I've got something lined up.' This decision was accelerated (by the layoffs)."

DeMuesy said that he has decided to leave TV news to work for a friend of his that owns a Cleveland-based commercial real estate investment company.

DeMuesy will be doing videography, social media and digital promotion from his home here for his old friend. "He's been wanting to expand his social media presence for a while," DeMuesy says.

He said that he was looking to leave TV news for a while and wanted to work a more normal schedule. The fact that Sinclair was starting to make layoffs had DeMuesy pushing up his timetable to do just that.

Still, it was a cool move and not one he had to make.

Good for him.
