It’s the Feb book and that means viewers get big announcements from some of their favorite Anchors.

KCCI Chief Meteorologist Kurtis Gertz announced that he is retiring from the station. He not leaving in two weeks, or even next month, or the month after that.

Gertz took time out during the February ratings period to announce that he will leave at the end of the May ratings period.

That way, the station gets to milk his retirement for two ratings books and not just one.

Gertz joined the station in 1994 and got the Chief Met gig back in 2016.

“I am proud to have led a team of meteorologists dedicated to safety and accuracy,” said Gertz. “I am confident that my colleagues will continue to deliver a clear and accurate forecast for my friends and neighbors in central Iowa.”

You know, after he leaves in a few months.
