It appears even the bosses can’t control themselves on social media.

Robert Feder reports that WTTW News Director Hugo Balta has been sidelined by his bosses for apparently sharing too much on social media.

Sources said he was under review for tweeting what were described as overtly political opinions and posting some odd Instagram videos of himself.

Feder reports that three “Chicago Tonight” news anchors — Phil Ponce, Brandis Friedman and Paris Schutz — raised concerns about Balta’s Instagram posts in a letter last week to Sandra Cordova Micek, president and CEO of WTTW.

Among posts mentioned were a video of Balta doing bare-chested push-ups and another of him dancing in his boxer shorts, a la Tom Cruise in “Risky Business.”

Those posts have since been deleted.

The station has confirmed that Balta is on administrative leave, but has not commented further.

"I am grateful for the time to consider personal matters," Balta said in an emailed statement to Feder. "I anticipate a return to the newsroom in early March."

Balta is also the former President of the NAHJ.
