From TV Anchor to Mayor

Many in TV have left the news business and tried running for office.

It seems that more often than not, those same people found out they weren’t as popular as they thought they were and lost their election runs.

It took a runoff election, but former KGAN (Cedar Rapids, Iowa) Anchor Tiffany O'Donnell was able to pull off the feat.

O'Donnell won the Cedar Rapids mayoral runoff election, beating businesswoman Amara Andrews to become the city's third female mayor.

I'm humbled and honored by what this campaign was able to accomplish. I couldn't be prouder of Team Amara. From day 1, we showed Cedar Rapids what it means to be a progressive, grassroots campaign. We made history in Cedar Rapids tonight, regardless of the outcome. We made it to a runoff that no one thought was possible. We are making change happen. We are making Cedar Rapids better,” O'Donnell said.

She might find out that running a city is a bit harder than reading the prompter.
