The Inbox....

Yesterday, FTVLive told you how another Emmy chapter headed out around a 1000 awards to people in just 5 of the 50 states.

I number of you commented on our story and we thought we would share a few in the Inbox….

Always wonderful to see you bust the emmy’s for the rip off they are. For years I wouldn’t participate and told my staff if they wanted to they had to pay the entry fee themselves. I won’t bore you with the story of why I first refused to join their scam, but the more I looked into it the more I realized these “awards” are worth nothing.

Email:

A bunch of narcissists getting pats on the back and talking about how awesome they are. Sweet. I wonder what the average pay for the people on the list is.

How do you distract people to keep their pay low: give them a trophy to fake boost their ego and their LinkedIn page. Enjoy the trophy.

I always noted the smaller stations in that region hardly entered or entered very few pieces. Why? It was expensive for smaller market stations or employees, on their own dime, to shell out the cash to enter. It's funny how it was called Rocky Mountain. Yet it was the Phoenix market Emmy awards. The one exception: Once, watching BYU (Yes, Brigham Young University's TV station) collecting over a dozen statues on their table. They must have spent thousands to enter.
