Done After 4 Decades

WFSB (Hartford) has been teasing over and over that a big announcement was going to be made during the newscast.

On Monday, Chief Meteorologist Bruce DePrest said, "we have been talking about a big announcement, and that big announcement is mine.”

He then told viewers that after 43 years at the station he is going to retire. “I decided to retire,” DePrest said.

He is not leaving at the end of the week, or the end of November. Nope, he’s sticking around until New Year’s Eve before he signs off.

He has pulled back on his duties over the past months, but he says that come the end of the year, he’s done.

So, why announce your retirement at the end of the year in the middle of November? Because, December isn’t a ratings period silly.
